It was a historic day for the Confederacy of Independent Systems as leaders of Kuat Drive Yards joined with select Senators from the Confederacy to discuss future relations. This meeting took place aboard the Lucrehulk Battlecruiser Revenue above the CIS capital planet of Genarius. It was during this meeting that KDY signed a diplomatic agreement that would officially bring KDY into the CIS as its newest Confederate faction. This announcement lead to celebration throughout all of the Confederate territories. The addition of KDY to the Confederacy will greatly help to increase the Confederate Ship Production lines.
The prospect of Kuat Drive Yards joining the Confederacy started mid Year 12 after KDY had a major fall out with their previous government employer the Galactic Empire. While the split was neutral, there were some harsh feelings that were expressed publicly, when the Empire made harsh accusations about KDY and its productivity. Leader and Owner of KDY Myn Kuat contacted Chief Diplomat Siejo Kutol shortly after leaving GE to look at the possibilities of working with the Confederacy on a closer basis. After more than 6 months of working together on ATPT production and Defense building, it was very evident to the CIS Senate that the claims made by the Empire were not completely based on fact, but more likely on hurt feelings due to the separation of the two groups. Later, KDY Diplomat Jett Blackheart contacted Kutol in regards to KDY becoming a full time member of CIS instead of just a trade partner. In a historic vote, KDYs application was discussed, put up for vote, and passed unanimously in less than a week.
As a result of this meeting, the number of CIS factions has now climbed to 13. This number, however, is soon likely to revert back to 12 as the Military Production faction Blastech has hinted on its possible departure from the Confederacy. This is due to personal issues with the Blastech and CIS leadership. With the addition of KDY to the roles, CIS will once again begin expanding its marketing section to accommodate the new products it is now able to offer to the public.
