This news story is brought to you by the Confederate Nightly News. The story, originally reported by a Dominion News Network reporter, was broadcasted from the Arkanian Dominion flagship, the Hammerhead Cruiser [ADS] Immaculate, and relayed to the Lucrehulk Battleship [CIS] Revenue for broadcasting across the Confederacy.
An anonymous male voice begins to speak.
“Reports have arisen that twelve hours ago mercenaries broke into the Confederacy of Independent System’s maximum security prison, the Citadel, in an attempt to free Sopa the Hutt and his brother, Pipa the Hutt. Both Sopa and Pipa were arrested for attempting to harm the Senate earlier this year in their violent protest of alleged racial discrimination by the general populace in Raxis Prime.”
“Siejo Kutol, who was on site to evaluate the progress of the project, explains the incident, ‘The Citadel is a large prison comprised of multiple blocks, some blocks incompleted, filled with dangerous criminals who would wish to do the Confederacy harm. Today we witnessed what happens when those criminals are free to roam. Around 0300 hours, Genarius time, a band of mercenaries, most likely hired by Sopa and Pipa on a prepaid deal in case they were arrested, broke through the Citadel’s outermost walls with a large display of armaments.'”
The anonymous news reporter continues, “After breaking through the outer walls of the Citadel, the mercenaries continued onwards towards Citadel Cell Block Gamma to break Sopa and Pipa free. After reaching Cells 1984 and 1941, they freed Sopa and Pipa and armed them with rifles. When leaving the cell block, they encountered several Confederacy security officers. Losing several of their men, they decided to charge the officers, hoping to scare them. The security officers recognized the danger the mercenaries posed and ran in the direction of the nearest exit, leading their attackers towards an unexpected trap.
Outside the Citadel were several B1 Battle Droid units from the Confederate Army, who were on site with Head of State Siejo Kutol during his inspection. The Droids demanded a peaceful surrender of the mercenaries and Hutts. Sopa and Pipa spoke for the group, stating they will not surrender. After the mercenaries began firing weapons at the Confederate military droids, Siejo Kuto ordered droids to return fire.
A brief firefight ensued, leaving no bandits alive and only a few Confederates injured. Siejo Kutol comments, ‘I was not hoping for it to end this way. It is a shame the Hutts believed this was necessary.’
The construction managers of the new Citadel cell blocks do not believe this event will halt construction efforts. ‘In fact,’ says project manager of Cell Block Omega who wished to remain anonymous in light of recent events, ‘should actually open ahead of time. Security measures on the new cell blocks as well as the current ones will also be upgraded to ensure an event like this will never occur again.'”
