Date: Year 13 Day 138 Onboard the Hammerhead Cruiser [HCC] Immaculate in system Cularin (-120, 160).
This news story is brought to you by the Confederate Nightly News. The story, originally reported by a Shadowfeed News Network reporter, was broadcasted from the Hyper-Communications Cartel flagship, the Hammerhead Cruiser [HCC] Immaculate, and relayed to the Lucrehulk Battleship [CIS] Revenue for broadcasting across the Confederacy.
The screen is initially black. After a second, the video shows what appears to be the bridge of a ship. In the background, an asteroid belt with a small city on the largest asteroid. Standing in the foreground is the Nautolan and Head of State of the Confederacy of Independent Systems Siejo Kutol as well as Chairman Sovan Theln and Vice Chairman Edgeman Riman of the Hyper-Communications Cartel. They stand behind a long podeum. On the podeium is two crests, one from the Confederacy and the other from the Cartel.
The camera pans the three and eventually stops on Siejo. Siejo begins to speak.
“Confederate brothers and sisters, today we stand to recognize what we have built. Against all odds, we have survived on our travel to the Hevvrol sector, created a united union to benefit no other than the citizens of this Confederacy, and watched as other groups fall and we stand strong. Today, we stand to recognize the birth of yet another new Confederacy, one stronger than before, caused by the introduction of yet another member faction to the Confederacy.
“I have seen this faction grow from its beginning to its present state. It began as the humbling idea that a new information group could form with the help of our Confederacy. This idea was brought forward by the group’s current Chairman, Sovan Theln. Today, we recognize what once was just an idea and is now a full fledged faction and member of the Confederacy of Independent Systems. I give you, Chairman Sovan Theln of the Hyper-Communications Cartel.”
A small crowd behind the visible area of the camera applauds. The camera pans to Sovan. Sovan begins to speak.
“A year ago, I served in the Hapes Consortium. I was a soldier. A man whose sole purpose to his country was to defend it. I also served with the Hapan Star broadcasting agency in the Consortium. After uncovering things that I did not particularly enjoy, I decided to take my leave.
“I traveled to Arkania and joined up with Edgeman Riman, the current Vice Chairman of the HCC to my left, who was also interested in a new group. I began discussing plans with him to rebuild the Arkanian Dominion to its former glory. He discussed the idea that we need allies to make it possible. I agreed, and so I, onbehalf of the Dominion, contacted Siejo Kutol of the Confederacy.
“We made preparations towards rebuilding the great nation of Arkania, but more and more did that seem to not be the direction we wanted to travel on after all. We found the Confederacy to be a great friend towards our cause. The Confederacy provided homes for us when they have not known us long.
“Helping with the Genarius project, the Dominion had built a successful and mutual relationship with the Confederacy. When I had brought the idea of the possibility of Dominion membership to the Confederacy, we submitted our application. During the initial stages of the application process, however, we decided to change our image and focus. No longer were we meant only to serve Arkanians, we were meant to serve the Confederacy, ourselves, and the galaxy. It was at that moment we became the Hyper-Communications Cartel.
“Our purpose, my new Confederate friends, is to serve the Confederacy and you by providing outstanding news and broadcasting service. We build and place satellites, we transport goods during our free time, and most important of all, we broadcast for the Confederacy. Should you want to broadcast a news programme on the Galactic News Service, contact the HCC. Should you want the HCC to write up a news article for your faction, contact me. We also sell satellites and datacards for them, we transport goods, and we also participate in construction projects with the Confederacy as well.
“I hope that over the long life of the Confederacy, we can make a difference in the galaxy together.
“Long live the Confederacy and long live the Cartel.”
Edgeman Riman, the Vice Chairman of the HCC, nods in approval.
Siejo begins to speak again.
“And now it’s time for questions from the audience…”
The image fades into darkness. An image of the Capitol of the HCC appears with two flags in the courtyard, one with the CIS flag and one with the HCC flag. The image fades again.
