Crew Went Mad; Ate One Another
Year 21 Day 280
An odd rumor appeared across the headlines of the local tabloids in the Hevvrol Sector, catching the attention of many sentients. An Acclamator-class Assault ship had been spotted within the construction docks on Xess Yard. Acclamator-class ships had not been seen in Confederate Space since the Clone Wars and many wondered where this ship originated. Once answers began to leak out, some were quite disturbed what they heard.
The ship wreckage was discovered during a routine scanning for asteroid mineral deposits in deep space just to the east of the Cularin System. The Acclamator was not alone, surrounded by almost unrecognizable debris from several Arquitens-class Cruisers and a CR90. The curious prospectors approached the wreckage, scanning and finding no sign of life. The Accalmator was the only ship of the lot that appeared to have an intact hull. After docking, the crew unsealed the ship and discovered the horrors inside.
According to the logs, which were obtained from the ship’s computer, the small task force was dispatched nearly two decades ago from the nearby Dolomar Sector in an attempt to locate the Confederate Remnant Fleet that had left the Sector in full retreat. Following gossip of sightings of the heavily damaged Lucrehulk Revenue in the Cularin System, the task force had arrived with plans to scout the systems of the Hevvrol Sector. Had they identified any Confederate Friendly groups, orders had been to engage.
Instead, the ship had exited hyper in an asteroid field. The large ships sustained heavy damage, with the Arquitens being disabled quickly. While trying to engage in a rescue mission, the engines on the Acclamator were disabled, standing the ship. The crew hunkered down, with plans for a rescue party to come for them after they missed a scheduled report in, but this never happened.
While drifting amongst the asteroids, waiting with the sense of impending doom of the next large collision, moral and sanity suffered. As food sources dwindled, several members of the crew suggested rationing out the remains of those who had died from the collisions with asteroids. Based upon a rough journal found scribbled under a bunk, It took only one week longer before the cannibalism started.
As more and more members of the crew became violent, openly attacking non-human minorities on the ship, several republic troopers had barricaded themselves in the barracks, trying to avoid those who had become ravaged by the hunger. It was then that Life support systems had begun to fail after taking a direct shot, not from an asteroid but from debris from one of the other ships in the task force.
The remnants of the battle that occurred were found by the prospectors. The years had not been kind to the remains, but based upon the bloodied and disfigured armor and the odd stacking of bodies, the cannibals had won. After feasting on the remains of the fallen for an unknown amount of time, the life support systems had failed.
The prospecting team immediately exited the ship and contacted Confederate Authorities. Sending in several squads of Battle Droids and several Super Battle Droids, the ship was cleared. After repair teams were able to get the life support systems back online, a scout team scoured the ship to acquire details on the ship’s mission and what had happened to the crew. After obtaining the details needed, the ship’s engines were repaired and it was escorted to Cularin for full repair.
It is not atypical for the Confederacy to rely on ships they formally encountered in battle. In a technologically strapped galaxy, other former Republic designed ships have found their way into the Confederate fleet, including Arquitens and CR90. The original Call sign of the Acclamator has not yet been released and it is uncertain what the ship will go by once repairs are completed. When asked about the ship, Chairman Kutol was happy to discuss it openly. Kutol was tasked with restoration of the ship. He had the following to say.
“First off, I feel very lucky in this whole situation. This ship was part of a task force to clear the galaxy of the Confederate Remnant. That was us. Had they found their way into Cularin, that would’ve been the end of the Separatist movement. The Revenue was no longer battle worthy and would not have lasted a day. It is very unfortunate what happened to the crew. No one deserves to be eaten, but the madness of space can do odd things to the mind. This is a good day though. It’s ironic to me that our people rode into this sector on fumes and now we are able to drag another remnants of the past into the fleet. I look forward to the new paint job.”
