Asher System Joins the Confederacy of Independent Systems
Year 22 Day 98
Asher II, Asher
In a stunning revelation, the Asher system, long-known for its association with Cybot Galactica and as a neutral and independent system, issued a formal declaration earlier today that it would be joining the Confederacy of Independent Systems.
After the declaration, President Dex Sehrin of Cybot Galactica made himself available for a brief Q&A session with the reporters on site. “This moment has been the result of over a year of intense negotiations with the Confederacy,” he was quoted saying in response to being asked about the incredible change of stance that his conglomerate has held over the past decade and a half. “Cybot Galactica, and the Galactica Group has long governed the Asher system in line with the wishes of its denizens. However, while we have grown enormously, and the Asher system itself has profited from the tens of billions of credits moving through its economy, the Galactica Group is not equipped to deal with the massively expanding bureaucracies needed to manage the growing system. For the past nine months, we have worked with CIS in a slow but steady process of integrating their bureaucracies into our system, with this cooperation, we have successfully managed to streamline the tax process and return millions of credits each month to our citizens. We’ve seen an increase of 10% so far in our gross system product, and with the formalization of our ties with the Confederacy, we expect to increase this further.”
Speculation about the future of the Galactica Group as an independent and neutral organization was quashed immediately. “The Galactica Group has always been independent and neutral. The Confederacy has long been a neutral government, and its recent acceptance into the Galactic Concordiate emphasizes this. Furthermore, during our discussions with Chairman Kutol, we have agreed on a good many ideas as to the direction of both the Galactica Group and the Confederacy of Independent Systems as a whole. With the addition of the Asher system the Confederacy now governs over ten sectors. Rather than acting as a central government with direct interference in the day to day of its constituent systems, it is the intention to act as a true confederacy of independent systems. Each system will have a say in the direction of the Confederacy as a whole and the central government will act as a coordinator between the systems, as well as provide overarching services, such as tax management and military defense. A new senate is being built precisely to account for this as well. So in short, the Galactica Group will benefit immensely from this partnership, and will continue to retain its long renowned neutrality. As to its independence, it will become a registered corporation of the Confederacy, with its base of operations tied to the Asher system. Additionally, our corporate leadership has been appointed to the Advisory Committee of the Confederacy, where we will be advocating on behalf of industry and bringing new opportunities to anyone interested in registering a corporation with the Confederacy.”
In regards to the recent turbulence with among the Confederacy leadership, President Sehrin would not disclose anything beyond the fact that any changes to the Confederacy’s governmental structure could be addressed by the government itself, but stressed that it would not negatively impact the Galactica Group in any way, and reiterated that the Galactica Group corporate leadership was appointed to the Confederacy Advisory Committee, stressing the word advisory, and he believe that it would actually allow for even more opportunities for both the Galactica Group itself, and for any other company looking to register with the Confederacy.
Chairman Siejo Kutol, who has been serving as the interim Head of State for the past month, was pleased to speak with local reporters in regards to the recent news. “The abrupt resignation of Former Head of State Logas surprised many of us. When I spoke to Taldar privately, he revealed to me a vision he had been blessed with. This vision revealed a holy pilgrimage he was being called to take. As a Prophet in the Order of Kampar, this is not a calling one can simply ignore. Mr. Logas will not be leaving the group, instead he will serve as the Regent of the Confederacy. This position serves as advisor to the Head of State and will ensure a seamless transition between administrations.”
When asked about how the addition of the Sprizen Sector would change the Mid to Outer Rim landscape, Kutol was quick to point out that the Confederacy has been hard at work over the past several years expanding its footprint in the region. The addition of the Sprizen Sector would be a major step forward for the group, propelling the Government into position as a major player in Outer Rim politics.
The last bit of news was in regard to the next official leader of the growing Confederate Government. An emergency meeting of the Advisory Committee is scheduled for later this week. With the announcement of this meeting came several rumors about the potential permanent replacement for Mr. Logas, including several prominent former leaders of the Confederacy, but the Government itself had released no official comments. When Chairman Kutol was asked about this, he responded with a smile, “I guess you will just have to wait and see!”
