Year 22 Day 353
Sentients across the galaxy took to social media when news broke that large swathes of territory was being swapped between the Confederacy of Independent Systems and the Trade Federation. Whilst the galactic registries were being updated some on social media speculated infiltration or a coup had happened. However, once the exchange was nearing completion, news began to emerge that the exchange of territory was due to a series of complex negotiations between the two governments.
Whilst it was a surprise that the Hevvrol Federation would be withdrawing from the Confederacy, sources from within the Confederacy had been expecting this change to occur. The Hevvrol Federation had been one of the founding constituents of the Second Confederate Council and in recent years had served as a strong guiding force within the Confederacy.
Following an increase in prosperity within the region, the Hevvrol Federation began to look beyond the Confederacy, to assert its influence beyond direct neighbours. In Year 22 Day, the Federation declared its intention to leave the Confederacy.
On the other hand, the systems of the Karadin, Wazta, Wornal and Vensensor sectors were looking to influence their future. Formalery these regions were part of the Avance Coalition and later came under the oversight of the Trade Federation. Despite the Federation’s best efforts and opportunities, these regions were still on the periphery of Trade Federation space and as a result developed their own identity and self-reliance. Wishing to see independence from the Trade Federation, negotiations were opened whereby the local governments opted to formalize adopting the articles of the Confederacy.
Following a meeting in the Tar Morden system by representatives of both the Sarrish Separatist Force and the Virgillian Council, negotiations with the Trade Federation commenced with the ultimate goal of succeeding from the Federation and joining the Confederacy. Once the formal request was submitted, negotiations between the two governments commenced.
Sources within both governments noted that whilst the negotiations only took a few days, they were quite intense. Echuu Shen-Jon was elected leader of the Hevvrol Federation and pledged to maintain the sovereignty of the Kalarba System within the sector for its residents, whilst his government took the decision to work more closely with the Trade Federation and explore independent relations with neighboring sectors, remaining under its protection.
The Federation committed to providing support for their former outlier sectors as the Confederacy made the remarkable decision to transfer its Council south. A move that is considered by some to be the greatest shift the Confederacy has made in recent history.
