CIS Gossip Year 23 Volume 01 – Taldar, Savior or Corrupt Politician?

Taldar Logas with Unidentified Female

The Confederacy of Independent Systems, protectors of the weak and savors of the forgotten and downtrodden.  Seeking to smash the hierarchies of ancient dynasties and bring to heel these power bases for the good of the common people.  But is this true?  Or is there a corrupt underbelly at the top pulling strings to corrupt and steal from billions of innocents?

Here at Gossip, reporting from our fancy new headquarters on Abregado Station in Tar Morden, have discovered scathing accounts and testimonies about one higher up among the Confederacy who may have had his pockets a bit too deep inside the recent deal.  Despite threats of both violence and lawyers, we have actively decided to pursue this truth even if it means we will lose our lives!

Taldar Logas; a noble former leader of the Confederacy and trusted leader of numerous parties.  Like many leaders he was deeply involved in the shadowing dealings recently between the Confederacy and the Trade Federation, supposedly old allies mutually benefitting at the behest of Siejo Kutol.  But new evidence has surfaced that Taldar brokered his own side deals not just with the Trade Federation but countless organizations even now actively involved in the full transition of assets.  One person who has been diligently tracking these shadow deals is Gregor Demorian the Third, cousin twice removed to the accountant of Taldar’s ex-wife.

“This is all very suspicious.  I have been watching this very closely, and have noticed that there is quite a bit of credit value missing from publications.  Hidden amidst the sheer amount of assets changing hands seemed some numbers are short-not unheard of in such an exchange, but this goes well beyond any reasonable corruption.  By my guesstimate, billions of credits in value have slowly disappeared over last month from the various public records I’ve seen.”  Gregor said, “By my own in depth investigation, the biggest chunk is in various groups either owned or specifically contracted out by individuals under Taldar’s influence or employment.”

Truly a scandalous scandal, but so what if there’s a bit of political corruption, big deal right?  Well we have the testimony of an affected citizen of Glom Tho III, Perforian the Dung Tosser, diligent laborer and employee held by many former families of note on Glom Tho III.  “I’m out of a job as all five of the estates I worked out suddenly were evicted and merged into a single greater estate.  Generations of families ousted without so much as a word or payout, their deeds stolen and security sicked on them.  They threw me out too saying I smelled of dung and this was the last time I’d ever work for them.  They even broke the bottle of fine alcohol I had been given for my duty and had half drunk!”  Perforian said.  Truly, even the most humble and honest individual is affected by this corruption, and we here will not let this stand!
