As this season of Deathmatch Comes to a close, it seemed like the drama of the early rounds would be the peak of the season. With Dex Sehrin, a well known businessman and leader of the Confederacy of Independent Systems holding a commanding 25 vote lead over pirate King Squall Chitose, little excitement was left for the finale. This changed yesterday after whispers on a social media platform spoke of foul play.
We at Gossip take reports of bribery very seriously, so an investigation was started by some of our top reporters. The first reported threat involved the Head of State himself, hinting at dumping non compliant employees into a Black Hole. Some took this as a joke, but a whistleblower confirmed additional conversations amongst the leadership of the government taking steps to punish those who did not vote. One unidentified leader supposedly claimed to have informed all of their lower level employees that if they don’t vote for the Head of State they will be stuffed inside a cage container and left in deep space for at least 5 years.
Some would see this as a joke, but the response in the polls were clear. Early voting showed Sehrin’s vote total swelling to higher levels than seen in the previous rounds. One low level employee, who asked to remain anonymous, voiced his concern with the threats. “Why? Why did they need to threaten us.” The totally anonymous Chaggin Richlan asked on the recorded video. “Echuu never made threats and he is a Pirate!”
Supporters of Mr. Chitose called foul publicly, calling for an investigation into the potential for clone ballots and large batches of Geonocian early ballots. He claimed that many, if not all, of these early ballots were being counted illegally. Greater security was needed to ensure their authenticity. Our reporters found evidence that several batches indeed included sentients who had passed away recently. The GNS, who runs the Galactic Celebrity Deathmatch, refused to comment when approached about the evidence.
Did Dex Sehrin win the Deathmatch Tournament Legally? Should we as citizens be worried about the integrity of the vote? Should there be a recount of the votes? Was there massive fraud? For Head of State Sehrin, this may have just been a popularity contest, but for others it really was Life or Death. A true Deathmatch.
