Homon – Homon Sector
In a likely effort to better secure its position in the Galactic Mid Rim, the SoroSuub Conglomerate (SSC) has officially affiliated with the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS). Sorosuub, originally functioning under the moniker Satarfighter, rebranded early in Year 21 after acquiring the right to the Sorosuub name. In recent years, Sorosuub has spent billions of credits expanding industrial capacity and improving living conditions of the Homon sector, and implementing sound governance policies.
This growth spurred by Sorosuub’s control of the sector rapidly transformed the once backwater region into an industrial powerhouse, and one of the most profitable sectors in the Northern Mid Rim. Unfortunately, it was the precise economic growth that turned the sector into a target for brigands and pirates. While the SSC has thus far been successful in maintaining sector security, further escalation could lead to a potential destabilization of the sector, and an economic collapse.
In recent months Sorosuub leadership began looking outside their own organization for methods to best defend the sector and protect its interests. After several meetings with Confederate leadership, it was determined that the benefits provided by the Confederacy to its Affiliated groups would prove ideal.. In addition to military training and support, the Confederacy was quick to offer help in streamlining governmental affairs. One such improvement has led to a cleaner tax code and more efficient collection methods.
Outside of defense and economic benefits, there is also the hope that combining research efforts will be fruitful between CIS, SSC and their allies. Combining research efforts should lead to earlier access to more complex and beneficial technology for all involved..SSC has traditionally met its revenue quotas from fair priced ship sales, and contract work, rather than licensing its designs to outside manufacturers. The streamlining of the tax code and improved collection methods have further bolstered SSC operating income.
SSC is not the first conglomerate to affiliate with the Confederacy. Both Kornova Corp and Arakyd Corporation have been affiliated for several years, working out of the Camdenand Ord Radama systems respectively.
Some local Homon residents have raised concerns about the future of their system with the arrival of the CIS diplomatic fleet. It was made clear that SoroSuub and therefore Homon would be joining the Confederacy as a fully independent and sovereign system. This choice was made by the SoroSuub Board of Directors as the CIS most closely aligned with thier neutrality stance and free trade practices.
After the initial announcement, several diplomats from both sides met at the newly opened branch of the Greasy Sprocket on Homon to celebrate.
