Red vs Green: Crisis in the Confederacy

Y24 Day 25

Hassaria System

This week, a new crisis has gripped the legislative branch of the Confederacy of Independent Systems when it was revealed that local natives to Hassaria, known as Hassarians, began spread their political ideology across the southern separatist sectors with their “Green” politics.

Seen wearing green sunglasses, local Hassarian politicians were seen escorting Confederacy officials around newly built government offices. Strong feelings have been coming from the northern sectors of the CIS once the Hassarians began to publicly support the policies of the Green Glasses, with many claiming this as being an affront to the party of Red Glasses and their strongest supporters, the Heep-Heep of Zrak.

Red vs Green: Hassarians and Heep-Heep square off over political disagreements

Up until recently, the Heep-Heep and Hassarians had little to no interaction.  The Heep-Heep were considered by most uncouth and uncivilized as of late.  As the Scrapper Guild developed their home world, the Heep-Heep quickly adapted and can now be seen at starports throughout the North-East Quadrant.  When the Hassarians were admitted to the Seperatist Alliance, their civilization was underappreciated.  While a fully developed, spacefaring culture, the Hassarians preferred to avoid major hyper lanes.  It was not until the recent events at the Winterfest that the two cultures met, and clashed.

With frequent sightings throughout the galactic north-east, Support for the Red Glasses Party has been at an all time high.  Back in the south however, the wave of green glasses has been met with positive feelings, one local said “Finally! We can be free of the oppression of the north and their insidious red glasses!”  Reporters caught up with Governor Truse’vala’ilone who was on his way to oversee development of the Thesme Sector. When asked his opinion he said “This is an outrage, upstarts trying to piggyback on the success of what the Heep-Heeps have done. I am going to take this to the highest levels of government! They dare to dishonor the north like this!”

Chairman Siejo Kutol, fresh off his latest Cultural Sensitivity Class, did not seem to echo Mr. Truse’vala’ilone when asked about the situation.  “I Understand where Truse’vala’ilone is coming from. I do.” He said with a smile and a wave of the hand. “..but recent events and training has reminded me of the importance of supporting local traditions.  Who are we, the CIS, to tell our friends the beloved Hassarians what they can and cannot wear? Maybe there is religious significance to the Green Glasses!”

In response, the Hassarians have begun preparation for conflict, raising an army of lilac haired boys to prepare for potential invasion.  There have been scattered reports of Heep-Heep preparations as well, preparing in the traditional way: Sharpening Spears. How will the Confederacy stop the impending conflict.  Can the government agree on supporting a single color in order to prevent its member states from tearing itself apart?
