Year 24 Day 33
Zrak, Nijune Sector
This week markets opened to news that the Scrapper Guild and Sprizen Mineral Holdings were formally merging operations under the Scrapper Guild brand.
The merger had taken business analysts by surprise as there had been no prior indication of a desire to merge. One analyst was quoted saying “The Confederacy always appeared to prided itself on having as many companies of similar industries as possible. If they didn’t have at least a minimum of 20 companies, they wouldn’t be achieving our quotas.”
However some political analysts did not seem surprised about this. Myles Colrin, from the Institute of Scrapper Thinking gave a comment regarding this “Slimming down the companies that the Confederacy owned was a predominantly northern push. In the north, less is more and the need to combine companies has already seen a swathe of local independent restaurants combine into a chain of seafood bars, which have been quite popular!”
Rumors have abounded that this is the first of some major mergers negotiated between northern politicians and the Confederacy executive. It’s become so common to hear about these discussions, one government aide who wished to remain anonymous said “When you see them walk into a room in their black suits and wearing red glasses presenting holo-slides with their proposals, it’s hard to resist their line of reasoning.”
The sudden merger has continued to make large impacts on planetary stock markets, with a meteoric rise in the stock valuation of the Scrapper Guild and a string of unrelated commercial industries coincidentally selling red-colored products. Zrak’s Heep-Heep Huts have also seen an unprecedented wave of visitors and tourists who seek to understand the Scrapper way of life, with many northern planetary governments seeing a large populus movement around Heep-Heep culture. “I don’t really know what a Heep-Heep is, but I love it! They told me I will finally understand at the end of my internship!” A local Asher resident exclaimed with mild confusion. “There is no pay but the Heep-Heep experience is priceless!”
It has been confirmed that Ondoron Bondoon, Zrak’s most celebrated Bothan, will remain leader of the Scrapper Guild.
