Sarrish Salvation: Infrastructure in Place to Support Growing Population

Year 25 Day 331

The explosive growth in Vensensor has been the topic of many news stories since the Sector joined the Separatist Movement several years ago. While the administrators of the Tar Morden System tried to accommodate with inexpensive accommodations, many immigrants cried out for improved living conditions.

“Slums” of Tar Morden

These cries were heard by the Magistrate of the South, proposing a large investment in higher end infrastructure in neighboring systems to help take the burden off of Tar Morden. Dubbed Operation Saving Sarrish, a large build project on Sarrish V initiated and was completed earlier this year. While this was a major improvement over the “slums” on Tar Morden VI, the prosperity of the region continued to put heavy demand on infrastructure, with most of the immigration settling in the Sarrish System. Protests broke out in Tar Morden, calling for more intervention from the government. The CIS responded.

Now, a mere 250 days after Operation Sarrish Salvation was announced, the project already appears to be near completion. New highrises cover the artificial surface of Sarrish IV, promising a higher standard of living for any sentient who makes the move to CIS Space.

With the project nearing completion, the Vensenor Sector will become the most populous of all CIS-governed sectors, with over 303 billion sentients currently calling Vensenor home. This further lends credibility to the idea that Vensenor is the capital of the Confederacy. Previously, the Northern Thesme Sector, with a population of just 180 billion, was considered by some as the center of the CIS.”

Siejo Kutol, current Magistrate of the North, released a press statement in regards to the project:

Just over a year ago, we encountered a problem. Tar Morden, the Capital of the Confederacy, was becoming overpopulated and, to be honest, simply too busy. We looked for solutions and, while we also completed a project in Goratak, our long-term solution quickly became the Sarrish Project. With hard work, and help from both the Matukai Dragons and eXiles, that dream has become reality. Almost as soon as the facilities were constructed, hundreds of millions of immigrants flocked to the systems to fill them out.

I’d add that the project is not necessarily over. There are already plans in the works for additional development to meet the continued demand. A settlement on Sarrosh III which would bring more affordable homes to those wishing to celebrate the prosperity of our great government and opportunities. My office will keep the press informed about any developments.

And lastly, I would like to personally thank Atlan Egrin for his dedication to this and many of our large scale construction projects. His constant effort, attention to detail and drive knows no match.

It is unclear when the next great build project will be announced, but as the CIS continues to expand in the Southern Outer Rim, one can almost guarantee that more infrastructure will be needed to sustain the growing work force.
