Year 26 Day 76
In a stunning turn of events it seems citizens of Hassaria will be going back to the polls to elect their governor. At the turn of the year, Hassaria III had elected BD-17206, a battle droid, as governor. In a series of unfortunate events, the Droid was assassinated on inauguration day, forcing the leadership to install Zynra Rin as Governor. This led to a spiraling of violence, with riots breaking out throughout the Hassaria System. The Magistrate of the South, Siejo Kutol, revoked the Automation Unity Party’s (AUP) accreditation.

The response was swift, culminating with a very public statement by the new AUP candidate, the battle droid BD-1237, demanding reinstatement of the accreditation as well as a new election on Hassaria III. After weeks of illegal, but peaceful protest, the office of the Magistrate appears to have caved in the announcement of a special election on Hassaria III set for next month.
In a live statement to assembled media, BD-1237, who also styles itself as ‘Munch’, said this was a step in the right direction for democracy. “After weeks of lobbying the Magistrate’s office, he has finally agreed to let our citizens’ voices be heard and not just shoe in a representative of a party which didn’t receive the majority of the vote! I have the utmost confidence that our citizens in Hassaria will reaffirm their belief in the AUP and myself at the ballot boxes,”
Notably, the battle droid has been seen with an increased amount of Super Battle Droids at its side, a major improvement over his predecessor, who was guarded by an older C1 series astromech.

Pundits have speculated this turnaround by the Magistrate to allow a special election has been due to a barrage of donations to his office, encouraged by senior members of the AUP. The donations, which are fast approaching millions in value, have not yet been listed by the office of the Magistrate as political donations, leading some to question where those credits have gone.
Magistrate Siejo Kutol, in an attempt to answer the pundits’ concerns, stated in a pre recorded video that these donations have been placed in an escrow account by his office for future use by the AUP in political campaigns and projects. He assured the public that in no way were the funds lost or being misappropriated. The Magistrate’s video quickly cut off as workers began installing what seemed to be bacta tanks in his office.
