Year 23 Day 95
This week the Sarrish Separatists announced the successful development of Tar Morden VI, a planet located within the Vensensor Sector. The development had been a joint project between the Confederacy and the Trade Federation once the exchanging of territories had been completed earlier in the year.
As part of an overall move southwards, the Confederacy focused on the logistical work of migrating its fleet south out of the Hevvrol Sector. The combined effort of the First and Second Fleets along with logistical support from smaller independent companies across the galaxy has aided in the movement of many Confederate ships to their newly gained territories.
In tandem with this migration, the small separatist groups, now operating under the Confederate banner along with the Trade Federation, began developing new mega-city settlements for all citizens arriving from formerly held territories. The operation, dubbed “Down the Tube” would see Tar Morden turn from a relatively quiet system with few settlers into a sprawling metropolis with modernized production and commercial hubs within the system.
As construction moved at pace, the new system began to take shape. Achieving 30, 60 and 90 day targets is no small feat for any large scale work of engineering. However, on Day 76, housing for over 33 billion immigrants was opened up within Tar Morden. This amazing achievement was not without its obstacles however. Some immigrants who arrived filed complaints with local municipal authorities about the climate they were living in. The ecosystems of Hevvrol and Cularin were very different compared to the current climate of Tar Morden which has resulted in a drop in morale in certain residential quarters. Overcrowding was one of the major concerns mentioned.
A small protest erupted outside of the local government offices on Tar Morden VI. Protestors were happy to speak to a news outlet. “Look, I know how things can be at times.” Said a new human settler, when asked about his thoughts of the housing on Tar Morden VI. “I grew up on Genarius, but it was nothing like this. The CIS had taken the time to constuct large, modern, skyscrapers to house us. Here? They just build a bunch of small flats, like they were in a hurry! I have to share my residence with 2 other families. Not ok!”
Local experts do not believe that housing for 33 billion sentients is enough. For instance , the planet Mondress was almost on par with Tar Morden VI in terms of population and Hevvrol houses 111 billion sentients. While the total number of those planning on immigrating is unknown, several local sources in Hevvrol have quoted a minimum of 50 billion more likely to make the trip.
While additional settlements are being developed in Tar Morden, this will likely be insufficient to meet the needs of an additional influx of settlers. As a result, a second venture with the Trade Federation was announced. The development in the nearby Goratak System, named Operation Round Table is already underway and will hopefully help to take pressure from the inevitable overcrowding of Tar Morden.
Meanwhile, things in former Confederate Space continue to deteriorate, with the Hevvrol Federation struggling to maintain control of the Hevvrol and Mondress Colonies. More news on this will be posted when information is made available.
