Nautolan Society Collapses
Volume 8 – Year 24
Over the last few weeks, one of the biggest jokes in the galaxy finally came to an end after the Nautolan Society formally ended the blockade of Glee Anselm and ceased operations as a military company.
Originally formed circa Year 6 Day 250 by Pixelor Xess, the Nautolan Society served as a framework for nautolan refugees to spread throughout the Galaxy and find success.
In response to pressure from the planetary government of their homeworld, many nautolans were forced to flee their home on Glee Anselm, in search of a planet to begin new civilizations. Pixelor, and later Siejo Kutol, used their financial influence and resources to assist members. Closely tied to the Corporate Alliance, and later the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the Nautolan Society was considered by most to be non-political and peaceful. This all changed 2 years ago when the Nautolan Society declared its intent to blockade Glee Asselm, polarizing members.
The “blockade” was in response to several alleged offenses by the ruling XXX Miners to the Nautolan People, including a horrendous report of “Squid Soup”. The Nautolan Society moved its mighty armada of Y-Ties into Glee’s orbit, blockading the planet for two years. Unfortunately for the leadership of the Nautolan Society, this blockade had absolutely no impact on the import and export of goods to and from the planet.
“It was called a “blockade” by the Nautolan Society but I don’t think these guys knew what blockades were meant to do. They’re supposed to stop activities around the planet, not just sit there as an eyesore.” said one local resident.
Many around the galaxy, even those inside the Confederacy openly questioned the call by the then Chairman Siejo Kutol to blockade Glee Anselm. The cost for fuel and rations alone for such an operation was immense, and it was bound to fail as the XXX Miners immediately dug in their heels and refused to negotiate. As internal politics shifted, so too did public opinion on the support for the blockade, which ultimately impacted the Nautolan Society’s ability to continue running this mild inconvenience. After some internal struggles within the Society, the mercenary group disbanded and relinquished their claim to Glee Anselm.
Kutol has not been known to be the expert tactician he boldly claims to be. Outside of his habits with mind altering substances, Kutol has made a habit of getting his family captured and being careless with Confederate Taxpayer dollars. Its a wonder he has been able to maintain office at all. Some local representatives have raised the question of term limits on the leadership of the government.
This could easily go down as one of the biggest blunders of Kutol’s career, topping his removal from the chairmanship of Kutol-Chan Industrial for insider trading. Political supporters of Kutol’s would quickly point out the benefits of the blockade. It allowed the Confederacy the opportunity to transplant many displaced nautolans, those loyal to the cause anyway, off world and assist in settling them in Hassaria and Koda systems.
Gossip reached out to the Chairman’s newest appointment, the Office of the Magistrate of the South, but was rebuked. They refused to offer a comment or explanation.
