Confederacy Announces Healthcare Initiative

Year 25 Day 91

(CIS News – Thesme) This week, after it was announced that Troika Medical Distributions would be absorbed into the Confederacy of Independent Systems, the government announced a new healthcare initiative – Troika Healthcare.

Officials made the announcement from Thesme IV, one of the primary planets that Troika Medical Distributions were based on. Magistrate Truse’vala’ilone was there to announce the new initiative.

“Troika’s primary mandate was to offer medicine to all citizens of the Confederacy. Although the corporation no longer exists, the underpinning nature of the company remains strong. That is why I am pleased to announce Troika Healthcare, a universal healthcare coverage for all citizens of the Confederacy. Our citizens are the lifeblood of the Separatist Movement and ensuring they have access to medical needs without financial burdens is paramount to a strong economy.”

During the press conference, it was revealed that authorized contractors would also be eligible for access to Troika Healthcare.

Troika Medical Distributions was the premier medical corporation for the CIS, originally three companies – Asher Institute of Medical Research, Royal Vorsian Healthcare and Outer Rim Medical. After a review of all of the companies within the CIS, it was determined they would merge into a new company, Troika Medical Distributions.

Critics of the change have said that the move is too soon as the original merger only occurred in Year 24, just over a year from this announcement. Others have questioned the fiscal responsibility now placed upon all citizens of the Confederacy who will essentially be contributing to the wellbeing of people they have never met and who may not be as healthcare conscious as themselves, however government officials were upbeat about the change as all personnel of TMD are now civil servants of the newly created Ministry of Health.

One official at the event who was talking to medical contractors said “TMD had a lot of experienced and well knowledgeable personnel who are now employees of the Confederacy itself. This wealth of knowledge is essential to growing and stabilizing the Ministry of Health. We expect to see an increase in medical manufacturing and a higher output of cybernetic operations, which would have otherwise been unaffordable for the average citizen. This will help get more people back into work and help improve the compatibility between sentients and droids in the workforce.”

It is expected that in the coming year, alongside the new budget announcements, information leaflets will be distributed to all citizens of the Confederacy to help them locate their nearest MoH hospital for treatment.

The MoH refused to comment on the recent recall of Troika products for safety concerns. Troika has been publicly cleared of all wrongdoing and the Troika pharmaceuticals and medical products have already been returned to the shelves.
